Business intelligence is a general term used to refer to a number of activities a company may undertake to gather information about their market or their competitors. Some areas often included under the blanket heading of business intelligence are: competition analysis, market analysis, and industry analysis. Some people also consider industrial espionage that operates for information-gathering purposes to be a form of business intelligence.

Re: Business Intelligence

According to another recent question there is apparently oxygen within the rocks so perhaps you can start up an oxygen producing plant and then franchise it to other planets within the solar system.

Re: Business Intelligence

Business Intelligence is basically thinking about the processes that the competitor will resort to or the way the market will respond to it or in other terms how the steps will impact the market and take the necessary steps to get the better of the circumstances.

Re: Business Intelligence

Business Intelligence
Business intelligence (BI) refers to computer-based techniques used in identifying, extracting,[clarification needed] and analyzing business data, such as sales revenue by products and/or departments, or by associated costs and incomes.

BI technologies provide historical, current and predictive views of business operations. Common functions of business intelligence technologies are reporting, online analytical processing, analytics, data mining, business performance management, benchmarking, text mining and predictive analytics.

Business intelligence aims to support better business decision-making. Thus a BI system can be called a decision support system (DSS). Though the term business intelligence is sometimes used as a synonym for competitive intelligence, because they both support decision making, BI uses technologies, processes, and applications to analyze mostly internal, structured data and business processes while competitive intelligence gathers, analyzes and disseminates information with a topical focus on company competitors. Business intelligence understood broadly can include the subset of competitive intelligence.
