Service Area Businesses are professionals and tradesmen that go out to customers and provide a service but they don't have a storefront (eg plumbers, electricians, locksmiths). Google has been attempting to prevent SAB businesses from creating duplicate and Sammy entries in its Google My Business directory by requiring these business to undergo an offline vetting process. Typical kinds of businesses which fit the SAB model include: plumbers, electricians, carpet cleaners, lawn mowers, mobile dog grooming, and so on.

A Service Area Business (also known as a SAB) are businesses whose staff move around to offer services at the customer’s location. Often these are “home-based” businesses and do not have a location customers can visit during posted business hours.
