Re: How to hire good employee?

Hello
One decision all businesses face, whether sooner or later, is the determination to hire. Hiring full-time or part-time help depends on the needs of the business and the stage of it’s existence. We’re going to discuss the advantages of part-time employees and address how to hire a good employee.
Definition of a part-time employee: One who works 1000 hours or fewer in any twelve month period. Most often this is defined as working fewer than 20 hours per week.

You may be considering hiring your first employee to improve efficiency in the business you’ve built from scratch. Or you may be considering hiring to fill a gap left by a full-time employee who has no choice but to reduce hours. Maybe your organization has dozens of employees but there are quarterly tasks or a particular department that could use a part-timer to increase productivity.Lets talk about the advantages of part-time employees. Part-time employees contribute greatly to organizations at a much lower employment cost. The employer is not burdened by taxes. Workers often site the need for flexibility as the being the draw for them to part-time work.

Re: How to hire good employee?

Hello to all

1) Determine what jobs you need done and what skills are needed.
2) Write precise job descriptions, including duties and skill requirements.
3) Conduct salary surveys among similar businesses in comparable locations to determine how much to budget for salaries.
4) Advertise in appropriate media. Ask friends, family and associates for recommendations. If you need generalists, place employment ads in local newspapers. If you need specialists, consider advertising in trade publications or other specialized media, including job fairs and the Internet.
5) Consider using an employment service. An agency can help you write job descriptions, put together an employee manual, devise a benefits package, and screen applicants.
6) Interview carefully. Focus on the applicant's qualifications, track record, attitude and demeanor.
7) Bring others into the interview process. Ask the applicant to meet with several managers so that you can get others' impressions.
8) Check references and employment history. Many employers also ask that applicants agree to credit-history checks and drug screenings.
9) Put your offer in writing, spelling out the job description, hours, salary, benefits, vacation and sick time and other pertinent details.

Re: How to hire good employee?

Hello Friends...

Here are tips to hire a great employee instead of good employee

1. When you review a resume, look for length of time on the job: a candidate with several short- term employers (less than a year)could mean a lack of commitment on their part.

2. Look for gaps in employment and ask for an explanation. Long periods out of work could signal a criminal background.

3. Watch the employment dates for "overlaps". This could be a simple error, but also might indicate that the candidate is not being truthful about previous employers. Ask the person to explain it, and be sure to call those employers and verify dates of employment with them.

Thanks

Re: How to hire good employee?

Hello

1) Skills sets- Are there particular computer skills they should have, math abilities, customer service skills, etc.
2) Background/Experience- Would you prefer someone who has held the same position previously, military background, medical office experienc, customer interaction, worked with kids or elderly, etc.
3) Character traits- Of course you want a dependable, hard working, conscientious worker. Who doesn’t? But you can find out through your reference checks the degree to which each trait is represented. Previous employers will provide information that can often help you determine if a candidate is honest, organized, works well as a team or independently.
4) Working style- You should first know your own working style. Are you on top of everything, a micro-manager? You’ll need someone who can function with a manager over the shoulder. Are you disorganized and need someone who can keep you organized? You’ll need someone who is organized but does not mind reigning in your mess. Do you like to assign tasks and prefer not to be bothered with details? If you like someone who runs with the assignment and just presents results you need an independent thinker.

How to hire good employee

I assume others accept credit cards as we do. We are shopping around for another service provider. We have used Card Services International for years but have not had great experience with them. Anyone using a company they feel good about? Which one?

The employer also benefits with flexibility to vary the work schedule and have employees work only when needed. The cost savings continue with the absence of employee benefits like health insurance and paid vacations.

Re: How to hire good employee?

Watching a guy work for a few hours is worth more than any interview in this g**e. That being said, you could put an ad in the newspaper that says "reliable, hardworking man wanted for tree service co., wage depending on exp." The best way of course is if some other good tree guy recommends someone, maybe you will get lucky, most good guys are already working.

Regards,
