Firefox 3.6 keeps freezing and becoming non responsive

I am having Firefox 3.6 and it keeps freezing and becoming non responsive.
I have been forced to go back to IE7 with no problems. I would rather use
Firefox. Why is Firefox freezing and becoming non responsive ?

I have scanned my computer for all bugs and my computer is clean.I have even tried by disabling my add-ons for Firefox, upgrading to Firefox 3.6 Beta (revision 5) [3.6b5] downgrading to Firefox 3.5 and tried deleting my cookies and internet temp files and I have the same problem.

Re: Firefox 3.6 keeps freezing and becoming non responsive

Hello
Issue

I have another kind of problem with Firefox
Description

Ever since I moved to 3.6, my browsing experience has been freezing up ("beachballing") every 20-60 min. for around 30 sec. at a time, then I'm interrupted by this error message:

Unresponsive Script

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

The only way to continue work is to click "Stop Script." But even when I click "Don't ask me this again," the script error comes back.

This happens no matter what web site browser I'm using. It does seem to happen while I'm trying to type stuff, like a form (been interrupted as I'm filing this ticket!) but maybe that's coincidence.

Re: Firefox 3.6 keeps freezing and becoming non responsive

I find the same thing happens if I leave (or have) Firefox open for a long period of time (all day and overnight). It could be one of the extensions has a memory leak, but it's tough to say which one it would be. Try Chrome, I find it to be a nice alternative. I've heard Opera is good too, but I've never tried it.

I thought it was a network problem or it was my Internet connection that was freezing up my browser, but I guess everyone's having the same problem huh? I hope they fix it soon.

I also use firefox 3.6 with a excellent feature. I also agree with you. as you suggest, I started to work with a safari. it is excellent. I think you have not solved problem but give a other way from it.

Re: Firefox 3.6 keeps freezing and becoming non responsive

The only thing I have found that will "sorta" get around this is defining the 'dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs' in the about:config down to -1. I don't know what this will do with other sites and its still not a real fix for this problem, as it seems to repeat after a reload of the page.

to much flash ๐Ÿ™‚ you can use chromium instead. Firefox is to old at the moment, unfortunately. It looks like IE for me now ๐Ÿ˜› To big and to slow for new websites full of flash.
