Hi

Employee benefits typically refers to retirement plans, health life insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, employee stock ownership plans, etc. Benefits are increasingly expensive for businesses to provide to employees, so the range and options of benefits are changing rapidly to include, for example, flexible benefit plans.

Benefits are forms of value, other than payment, that are provided to the employee in return for their contribution to the organization, that is, for doing their job. Some benefits, such as unemployment and worker's compensation, are federally required. (Worker's compensation is really a worker's right, rather than a benefit.)

Prominent examples of benefits are insurance (medical, life, dental, disability, unemployment and worker's compensation), vacation pay, holiday pay, and maternity leave, contribution to retirement (pension pay), profit sharing, stock options, and bonuses. (Some people would consider profit sharing, stock options and bonuses as forms of compensation.)

You might think of benefits as being tangible or intangible. The benefits listed previously are tangible benefits. Intangible benefits are less direct, for example, appreciation from a boss, likelihood for promotion, nice office, etc. People sometimes talk of fringe benefits, usually referring to tangible benefits, but sometimes meaning both kinds of benefits.

Keep sharing and reading
Thanks

Re: Employee Benefits

1)Insure Your Employees Legally:Believe it or not, the only legally required benefit that you are obligated to maintain is workers' compensation insurance, which you can self-insure in many states. There's no such requirement for independent contractors. However, to protect against potential exposure for work-related accidents involving contractors and other third parties, you should maintain liability insurance.
2)Compensate Executives with Bonuses:Be creative when you develop executive compensation plans. Consider all types of options, including car allowances, life insurance, relocation payments, flexible start dates, signing bonuses, use of company-owned vacation property, health-c**b membership, tuition reimbursements, and other compensation that will make your package competitive and attractive. Offering non-monetary incentives like these will tempt talented candidates and help you keep them.
3)Don't Be a Slave to Salary:Be careful about using salary increases as a primary retention strategy. It can quickly become an employee's strategy to threaten to leave unless they receive a pay hike. This can subsequently become ingrained in your company's culture. You might want to look into some type of employee ownership or stock option plan to improve employee retention and loyalty. Recruiting and rebuilding teams might also have to figure into your strategy.

Thanks

Re: Employee Benefits

Here i found some of the best ways for employee benefits basics:

#Comply with the law to give employees time off for jury duty, voting and military service.
#Follow all Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and worker’s compensation rules. Remember to comply with tax law, withholding FICA taxes from payroll. Also, pay your part of FICA. Social security and Medicare are part of regular payroll taxes. Pay unemployment taxes and any additional state taxes. You can outsource your payroll to simplify this task and ensure compliance.
#Remember the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) applies to companies with 50 or more employees. For more information,.
#Research employee benefits options. You can choose to offer retirement plans, health plans and dental/vision/prescription drug plans. Often a cafeteria plan allows you to set a benefit cost level for the company and give employees a choice of benefits.
#Even if you are a very small firm, remember that all companies with employees should have an employee handbook that governs standards for your company and specifies vacation, sick leave and company policies related to personnel.

Re: Employee Benefits

Fringe benefits are generally included in an employee’s gross income (there are some exceptions). The benefits are subject to income tax withholding and employment taxes. Fringe benefits include cars and flights on aircraft that the employer provides, free or discounted commercial flights, vacations, discounts on property or services, memberships in country clubs or other social clubs, and tickets to entertainment or sporting events.
