The only way to have a good success with it is if you have a customer allow you to text them for marketing or updates or ads. If you didn't, I'd say that you'd be pretty much wasting your time. Not a lot of people trust ads or buys products and services coming from automated machines. There are even times that they don't read messages coming from numbers that is not saved in their phonebooks.
