Starting a Subsidiary Company?

(@Anonymous)

Hi I currently have an LLC and I was wondering what type of legal issues I would have to go through to start a subsidiary company? Also, how do i go about having checks written to the subsidiary company and deposited into the parent account? I wanted to just start this quick and was hoping there isn't a lot of legal stuff involved, but I'm sure there is. :/

Re: Starting a Subsidiary Company?

Hi josh,

I would recommend talking to a lawyer as you want to be very careful when setting subsidiaries up. It will cost a little bit upfront but will be well worth it in the long run. You never want to make the IRS or gov't mad and it costs much more then you have to invest if this kind intricate business setup gets done incorrectly.

Ok. But what if i want to just see if this subsidiary idea works and then do all the legal stuff. If I wait to do legal stuff it could be summer before I can actually do anything.

Re: Starting a Subsidiary Company?

The capital requirement for starting a foregn subsidiary is the same as for starting a local company i.e. very low, I don't know the exact $$ figure ...

Re: Starting a Subsidiary Company?

In simple terms a subsidiary company is often just a seperate legal entity registered in its own right. This company is normally owned in full or part bu the parent company. Further points to consider are the movement of funds between companies, additional accounting and reporting requirements.

Re: Starting a Subsidiary Company?

Subsidiary company is one which is owned by a person who has half of its shares like some companies have it. Vodafone has it.One can open a company which is partly owned by him and partly by government.
