Re: target audience

It depends on what type of graphics you design. Into the professional design / banners, you do a cartoon design, there are many forums where you can post what you do, a designer who needs to see. You need to figure out your Cando and the comfort of your style, then they do. Get a good site settings, show what you can do as much as possible to promote.

Your target audience can be anyone or any business looking for the services you provide. Besides small businesses that you're currently servicing, you can provide the same services to medium-sized businesses. The only thing you'll be doing differently here is that you need to demonstrate to them that you have the capabilities to handle a job of that magnitude.

Your target audience will of-course be limited to small businesses when you are starting out. However, after you create a name for yourself, you can then move on to mid-sized companies and later work your way up the ladder. Initially, you want to use small businesses owners to assist you in creating an impressive portfolio and act as your referral point to other connects.

Anybody and everybody, big and small. For example, a friend works in a local graphic design agency that does projects for small businesses to large factories. Never underestimate the power of marketing.

Everybody and their mom need a graphic designer these days. You can even try going local and offer it to local business stores.

You could always advertise locally. Even SMS tools can help you with that.

I agree with most answers provided here. However, I would like to add this. Your target audience are directly in line with the type of service you provide in terms of graphic design. The field of graphic design itself is a wide area and you won't find a homogeneous target audience. Therefore all depends on which area you want to focus on and find individuals who are looking for the service you are offering.
